30/06/2009 - THE LIGHTYEARS APPEAR IN NEW YORK - News release Pop Rock Band The Lightyears To Promote Album in America

The Lightyears, an internationally-renowned stadium pop-rock band from London, will be touring Philadelphia in July for a run of live dates to promote their new album titled "London, England", which is available on iTunes or from the band's website www.TheLightyears.com. Voted Best Pop/Rock Band at the UK Indy Awards, The Lightyears short tour launches with the band headlining the 'Summer In The Square' series in New York's Union Square in Manhattan on Thursday 30th July 2009. The four man band then travels to Philadelphia to perform at the legendary Chaplin's in Spring City on 31st July, then at the Milkboy Café in Ardmore on the 1st August, before a final show at the Burlington Amphitheatre in Burlington, New Jersey.
Chris Russell from The Lightyears said: "Our music has always been very well received in America and it's a great opportunity for us to enjoy a vacation, meet Transatlantic fans and perform tracks from the new album as a thank you for their loyal support."
This will be the band's fourth visit to the States and their appearances in Philadelphia will be particularly relevant as an extremely rare, live version of a Lightyears track "Inside Job" has been included on a compilation album called "Milkboy Live Vol 1" that was released at the end of May. The eleven track album has been recorded over the last two years at the Milkboy Coffee venue. The release also features The Brakes, Jim Boggia and the late Robert Hazard, the Philadelphia legend who wrote Cyndi Lauper's hit single "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", in one of his last recorded live performances.
The Milkboy website says of The Lightyears involvement in the project: "We were glad to include these British lads. They have great elements of pop in their quirky style of rock and roll. They come complete with three-part harmonies and a drummer that stands up to play. What's great about this tune is that you won't catch them playing this anywhere else. After selecting the song, we found out from the band that this is an early version of a song that went on to become something completely different. Thanks to the guys for giving us the exclusive track, ‘Inside Job'."
The band's many previous adventures in the United States have been chronicled in pianist Chris' legendary tour diaries. These include tales of performing two shows on two continents, one in the UK and one in the USA in under twenty hours, winning their UK Indy Award whilst sitting in Starbucks on Fifth Avenue and singing live on WXPN Radio to an audience of three million people.
The Lightyears are well established in the UK and on the international corporate scene and their most recent British show was in front of a sell-out crowd of 10,000 people at London Road Stadium. They have played the prestigious Glastonbury Festival three times and headlined the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool, made famous by The Beatles.
On the corporate scene the band recently performed at the Queen's Birthday Ball in Seoul, Korea for the fourth consecutive year and they have also been invited back to headline again at the Rugby Tens Tournament in South Africa in 2010. They have also been asked to perform at London's Wembley Stadium this September for the South African Saracens Rugby Club match which promises to attract the biggest crowd ever for an event of this kind.
Their new album "London, England" was released in January 2009 and features tracks produced by four-time Grammy award-winner Hugh Padgham, a world-famous producer who has sold over 50 million records and had numerous hits with Sting & The Police, Elton John, Paul McCartney and many more.
The Lightyears have toured all over the world, including South Africa, South Korea, Thailand and mainland Europe. For more information click The Lightyears

29/05/2009 - HENRY PRIESTMAN AVAILABLE THROUGH SHOWBIZWORKS.COM - Book Henry Priestman for your corporate entertainment

Liverpool's finest Henry Priestman is now available to book for private and corporate events through entertainment agency Showbizworks.com Henry will release a new digital single, a virtual double A side, on June 28th ‘09. Side A features ‘He Ain't Good Enough For You', a wry letter from a father to his daughter, which is taken from Henry's acclaimed debut ‘The Chronicles Of Modern Life'. The other side A features ‘The Coolest Dance (Irish Jig)' a brand new song written and performed by Henry, which sounds like a collision between the Waterboys and Elvis Costello in an Irish pub at closing time. "He Ain't Good Enough For You" is a beautiful slice of poignant singer/songwriter pop that describes how every father feels when Daddy's Girl makes to flee the nest -
"He ain't good enough for you and it hurts But I know that you could do so much worse… But the thing that's really frightening Is I think I was just like him and it hurts." "The Coolest Dance (the Irish Jig)" is an unabashed clash of pop/rock with a generous helping of the f word (folk). It's a joyous comparison between the cold impersonal feeling of a lavish corporate event and the warmth and joy of a ‘St Patricks Day' party, celebrated in a local pub, ‘The Little Green'. Henry Priestman is one of Liverpool's most colourful characters and is a major player and songwriter on the Liverpool music scene. The former keyboard and guitar player and principle songwriter for 3 million selling The Christians and It's Immaterial fought the punk wars (supporting the Sex Pistols with Yachts in 1977), worked alongside Glen Matlock and Suggs in Bette Bright's The Illuminations and performed with a roll call of North West luminaries that has included The Lightning Seeds, Johnny Marr, Ian McCulloch, Pete Wylie, Ian McNabb and Echo & The Bunnymen. Described by Radio 2's Johnny Walker as "Grumpy Old Men set to music", Henry Priestman's album ‘The Chronicles Of Modern Life' was released on 26 January 2009 and features 12 tracks of self-penned barbed observations generated from life experiences, striking a chord with listeners across generations. ‘The Chronicles Of Modern Life' is an album that could only come from a man who has seen it all. Originally recorded just for fun at his home studio, the album immediately captured the imagination of Johnny Walker and Terry Wogan at Radio 2 and after an avalanche of public response to the single ‘Grey's The New Blonde' on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Henry Priestman signed his first ever solo deal with Universal Records.
